Whitby Collegiate achieves 6 scholarship examination passes including 2 outstanding awards putting Whitby Collegiate as one of the top academic schools nationally.
Congratulations to our 2021 Head Girl and School Dux Cassandra Mansfield, and Deputy Head Boy and Proxime Accessit Cassidy Abbot on their outstanding Scholarship results. Not only did Cassandra gain Scholarships in Chemistry and Calculus she was awarded an Outstanding Scholarship for Physics. Cassidy also gained three Scholarships in Classical Studies, Religious Studies and like Cassandra, received an Outstanding Scholarship for English.
To give some context around this superb level of academic achievement, approximately 3 percent of all students studying each subject at Level 3, are awarded Scholarship and even more impressively Outstanding Scholarships are awarded to only 0.3 percent of students studying at Level 3.
Cassandra received offers for the top scholarships from both Otago University and Massey University valued at $56,000 and accepted the prestigious Massey Vice Chancellor's award where she will be undertaking a Veterinary Science degree this year. Cassidy is a recipient of the Victoria University Tangiwai Excellence Scholarship of $5000 where he will be studying a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Classics.
These results are the best results Whitby Collegiate has achieved, reflecting our commitment to excellence and continuous improvement to already impressive academic results, putting Whitby Collegiate as one of the most successful schools in the country.
We wish these students all the very best for their future careers and know that they are wonderful ambassadors for our Whitby Collegiate alumni.
